Program Overview

The Department of Dentistry and Oral Health at Frantz Fanon University offers a rigorous and modern Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) program aimed at developing competent, ethical, and skilled dental professionals.

The program blends biomedical sciences, clinical training, and public health, tailored to Somaliland’s oral health needs.

Program Structure and Curriculum

Year 1: Basic and Pre-Clinical Sciences

• Human Anatomy (Head and Neck)
• Biochemistry, Physiology
• Dental Materials and Histology
• Medical Ethics and Infection Control

Years 2–3: Para-Clinical and Pre-Clinical Dentistry

• Oral Pathology, Pharmacology
• Restorative Dentistry, Endodontics, Periodontology
• Pre-clinical simulation practice

Year 4: Clinical Dentistry

• Clinical Rotations across major dental specialties

Final Year: Supervised Internship

• Rotations in teaching hospitals
